Wasp nests found near doorways, in roof cavities, or in garden areas can be dangerous, particularly for anyone with an allergy to wasp stings. New Zealand's native German and common wasps can build large nests and become aggressive when disturbed. JAE technicians are equipped to locate and treat wasp nests safely. Do not attempt to remove a wasp nest yourself as this can provoke an attack.

German and common wasps are aggressive stinging pests that build nests in roof voids, wall cavities, ground burrows, and trees, with activity peaking through summer and autumn. A mature nest can contain thousands of wasps, and a defensive swarm is a serious safety risk for children, pets, and anyone with an allergy. DIY attempts to destroy a nest are a common cause of multiple stings and rarely clear the colony.

JAE locates the nest, fits the necessary protective equipment, and applies a fast-acting professional insecticide directly into the nest entrance or cavity. The wasps carry the treatment through the nest, taking out the colony within hours. Where the nest is in an accessible location we can remove it after treatment; nests deep inside cavities are left in place once the colony has been destroyed.
