JAE Carpet Cleaning

Rodents (Rats & Mice)

Rodents are one of the most common pests in kiwi homes and businesses. They gnaw through wiring, insulation, and timber, and can spread diseases such as leptospirosis through their urine and droppings. If you hear scratching in the walls or ceiling, find droppings, or notice chew marks on food packaging, you may have a rodent problem.

JAE uses a combination of baiting stations and trapping to eliminate rodent activity.

Rats and mice are smart, fast-breeding pests that contaminate food, damage insulation and wiring, and spread diseases including Leptospirosis and Salmonella. A small population can establish in roof voids and wall cavities without being noticed for weeks, and gnawed wiring is a recognised fire risk, so a fast and thorough response matters.

JAE starts with an inspection to confirm the species, identify activity hotspots, and locate the entry points being used to access the building. We then deploy a combination of secure tamper-resistant bait stations, snap traps in sensitive areas, and proofing of entry points such as gaps around pipes, vents, and eaves. Bait stations are placed in roof voids, sub-floors, garages, and along travel routes where they are out of reach of children and pets.

Because rodents reproduce quickly, follow-up visits are usually scheduled to refresh baits, check trap captures, and confirm activity has stopped. Our technician will explain what attracted the rodents in the first place — open compost, pet food, cluttered storage, fruit trees — and how to reduce those drivers so the problem doesn’t return.
