JAE Carpet Cleaning

Fleas

Fleas are a common problem in homes with pets, but they can persist even after pets have been treated. They bite humans and animals, causing itching and irritation, and in some cases can transmit tapeworms.

Flea eggs can lie dormant in carpet fibres and upholstery for months, and most DIY flea bombs are not strong enough to kill flea eggs, meaning the problem often comes back even after treatment.

Fleas commonly enter homes on pets but are also brought in on shoes, clothing, and second-hand furniture, quickly establishing in carpets, pet bedding, and soft furnishings. Their bites cause persistent itching and skin reactions in people and animals, and the eggs and larvae lying dormant in carpets can re-start an infestation weeks after a DIY treatment appears to have worked.

JAE treats the whole environment with residual products designed to break the flea lifecycle in one visit — targeting the adult fleas on contact and the eggs and larvae through a long-lasting residual that continues to work as new fleas emerge from the carpet over the following weeks. Pet bedding, carpets, skirting boards, and any other harbourage areas are all treated as part of the same visit.

Our technician will explain how to prepare the home before the treatment, what to do with pets on the day, and how to maintain control afterwards through regular vacuuming and ongoing flea protection for pets, since untreated animals are the most common cause of a new infestation.
