JAE Carpet Cleaning

Carpet Beetle

Carpet beetles are a small but destructive pest whose larvae feed on natural fibres including wool, silk, leather, and feathers. Like carpet moths, the damage they cause often goes unnoticed until carpets, rugs, clothing, or upholstery show irregular patches of thinning or bare patches. Adult carpet beetles are often spotted near windows as they are attracted to light.

JAE can treat affected areas with targeted insecticide applications to eliminate larvae and protect your soft furnishings.

Carpet beetle larvae feed on natural fibres such as wool, silk, fur, and feathers, causing irregular bare patches in carpets, rugs, and stored clothing. The adults are small and easy to overlook, but a single infestation can damage soft furnishings, bedding, and woollen garments before it is detected. They are particularly drawn to dark, undisturbed areas like wardrobes, under furniture, and inside drawers.

JAE inspects the property to locate the source of the infestation — which is often a forgotten woollen item, a bird nest in a cavity, or a build-up of lint under furniture — and treats both the source and the affected areas. The treatment uses residual insecticides safe for use on soft furnishings and targeted at the larvae as well as the adults.

Our technician will explain how to reduce the conditions that support carpet beetles — regular vacuuming under furniture, sealed storage for woollens, and inspecting any second-hand items before they enter the home — so the infestation cannot easily re-establish.
